While so many Australians have been in COVID-19 lockdown, watching our Paralympians compete in Tokyo has been a source of pride and inspiration.
On Monday 13th September CPActive is thrilled to host a Paralympics special event!
We’ll be speaking to several of our Paralympic athletes living with cerebral palsy returning from Tokyo about their journey to the world stage: the ups and downs, what it’s like representing Australia, and how we can keep breaking barriers for athletes with cerebral palsy and similar conditions.
A few of the other things we’ll ask about are:
- Advice on setting goals
- Building strategies and resilience
- The future of the Paralympics and inclusion in sport and athletics.
The guest list is being finalised right now – register for free to secure your place and we’ll send you an email when our speakers are confirmed!!
It’s not only the CPActive community who’ll get to meet our heroes though. Our Paralympians will be in conversation with community members and young aspiring athletes with CP, who hope to follow in their footsteps and represent Australia.
Please join us on Monday 13th September at 4.30-5.30pm for this one-of-a-kind event.
This is a free online event held over Zoom with Auslan interpretation and live captioning.

A CPActive Online Event
Every baby born with cerebral palsy has a window of opportunity that makes a lifetime of difference. But in Australia, we’re missing it.
Every baby born is tested for hundreds of health conditions, but not for cerebral palsy. It’s the most common physical disability in childhood, yet across Australia the approach to diagnosis is just ‘wait and see’.
Treating cerebral palsy in those first few months of life has a massive impact on that child’s wellbeing for the rest of their life. Every baby deserves that chance, and every parent deserves to know how to help their child thrive.
Register now for the launch of our new Window of Opportunity campaign at 7pm on Thursday 19th August. We’re calling on the Federal government to provide universal cerebral palsy screening for every baby born in Australia.
We’ll share stories and discuss how we can work together to create lasting change
Hope to see you there!

How can we work together to change things?
In this online event we’ll hear directly from experienced activists living with CP about the power of online activism, being interviewed in the media, the importance of telling their stories and why they campaign for change.
We’ll also be launching a CPActive campaign toolkit for people who want to dive right in and start making waves.
Register now and we’ll send you details of how to join closer to the event. See you there!
